Dvd drive not working

Hi guys....
its the common problem that after some years some dvd writers stop working..
or reading discs.
or somtimes it reads cds but not dvds
and somtimes it reads dvds but not cds..
i was also facing the same problem on my sony dvd rw DRU-190A drive from sometime..
Now i find a solution for this problem
here is the steps

1) find the product model no of your drive  by rightclicking on drive icon and then properties.
2)download the firmware for your product on company's website.
3)install the firmware
and enjoy..
it worked for me..
